  • Bereavement Services Manager visits the Cemetery - Tuesday 11 September 2018

In early August we invited Iain Donald, the Isle of Wight Council Bereavement Services Manager, to meet us at Kingston Cemetery to discuss several issues of concern. He was very helpful but was obliged to point out the increasing financial restrictions he had to bear in mind.

  • DOGS IN CEMETERIES - Sunday 03 February 2019

We have heard that the Isle of Wight Council is considering banning dogs from all council cemeteries. This is as a result of the actions of those few irresponsible dog-walkers who allow their dogs off-lead and/or do not clear up after them. A ban would reduce the options for responsible owners (the vast majority) looking for a traffic-free, peaceful place to walk their dogs, which gives both human and dog some healthy, open-air exercise.

  • COWES BLITZ COMMEMORATIONS MAY 2019 - Monday 03 April 2017

The now-traditional commemorations will be held this year at midday on Saturday 4th May, at the Old Cemetery, Kingston Road, East Cowes. Local clergy will lead the service, and the names of all the East Cowes victims of WW2 air raids will be read out.  Wreaths will also be laid (please feel free to bring your own floral tribute).

As before, this service takes place during the guided 'East Cowes Blitz Walk', part of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival. The walk itself begins at the Heritage Centre, Clarence Road, at 10.30am.
